The game’s theme song will be performed by ReoNa, who performed the opening theme for the Sword Art Online: War of Underworld animation and the main theme for previous game Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. It is said to include the largest number of characters and episodes in the series. The game will feature single-player and four-player online co-op modes. Like its predecessors, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection will feature action combat. Its events are inspired by the main series’ Underworld War arc and see Kirito preparing for battle as the gate to the Dark Territory opens, threatening to unleash terror on the Human Realm in the Underworld, while in the real world, forces are attempting to evolve AIs through its warfare. Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is planned as the final entry in the game series continuity, which branched off from the main series with the first title Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. The game is being developed by Aquria and is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2023. Bandai Namco has announced Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, its latest action RPG based on the Sword Art Online light novel and anime series.
